Joe Strummer died 15 years ago today. Everyone who valued
him, and those of us lucky enough to know him—maybe we all felt cheated when he
died. He was a wise young man; we can only imagine what a great old man he
would have become. Most days I still find myself thinking what would Joe Strummer do?
When I learned that it was his heart, that it could have taken
him at any time during his 50 years—well, we were lucky to have him as long as
we did. Joe Strummer wore that brave, damaged heart out. He’d given more love
to the world than the average ticker could ever manage.
The Joe-shaped hole in the universe is enormous.
Joe, Joe, Uncle Joe. Hugs and kisses. Love always. I miss you.
